Some of the new toys that been added..

This project is still alive.

I’ve been a bit busy with other projects in the last few months, but this one is still alive and kicking.

The bot as been completely rebuild with a bunch of new toys.  I’ll be uploading pictures as soon as I can.

From what I’ve read about the Verizon JetPack, I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work.

The JetPack seems to be a wireless router with a built in cell modem.  So you could either connect to the rover through the local network or over the internet.

In my testing, a local network connection gives the best results, but it’s still very usable when run over the internet.

If you have any specific questions regarding this, I would be happy to provide my input.

Complete rebuild is almost finished

Had a few days off and was pretty bored.

Using a Pi Prototyping plate, I was able to make a simple circuit board which holds the GPS and Accelerometer.

The board plugs right into the pi’s gpio header.  This created a lot of room for a replacement speed controller.

My Raspberry Pi camera also arrived, however, the cable isn’t long enough.  I’ll have to figure something out.

New top black top as well..

Long Range testing this weekend

Getting all setup for testing this weekend.  Big back yard bbq for the long weekend, lots of space to play.

GPS and 3-Axis accelerometer / magnetometer are up and running.

I can now get my Lat / Long, direction, speed, temp, time, altitude and orientation

Going to borrow some of the code from my WoW bot days and see if I can’t get it follow a path back home.

My current camera works really well, better than I thought it would, but this one is going to be awesome..  I’m so excited..
